Did the Norks mess up?

    SpaceWar thinks they did. Quote:

This latest move by North Korea will give the United States a golden opportunity to step up its military presence in and around the Pacific area. Following this latest North Korean stunt, Washington should find it relatively easy in convincing Tokyo for the need to strengthen military cooperation between the United States and Japan.

As one analyst put it, Japan could well become the England of the Pacific -- an island fortress and a staunch ally of the United States who sees its own security and well being tied-in to a strong -- and permanent -- American presence in the Pacific region.

If this was their plan, it succeeded and was a bad plan ;) Look at the bright side, the guys and gals at
US Pacific Fleet gets just a little closer.

The USS Mustin sailed into the port of Yokosuka, home to the Navy's 7th Fleet, with a crew of 300 for permanent assignment to the region, 7th Fleet spokeswoman Hanako Tomizuka said.

(skipping a few graphs ahead)

In August, Yokosuka will also welcome the USS Shiloh, which last month demonstrated its ability to shoot down missile warheads in a landmark test off the coast of Hawaii.

As I said earlier, really bad plan.
